Welcome back to another Faithful Friday encouragement: “The God who sees…”
To those who are dealing with grief or a painful situation that you don’t understand…
This is something I wrote down, in part, on 9/12/23.
The short of it is I was struggling with grief to the point of crying myself to sleep the for a few night Missing a dear friend. Wondering if my desire to see my sister in Christ again, was becoming an idol , replacing my ultimate desire to see the Lord.
Begging God not to waste the pain, I didn’t understand this time. This Deep wound that takes time to heal. I had a longing for comfort , but God seemed to be saying no.
Where I thought He was saying No, as if a father was pushing away his child. He reminded me He hears every cry. He wasn’t that He was pushing me away, but like a potter etching a design on a piece.
If a piece could speak would it scream at pain… wanting the pain to end, since pieces of the clay fall in the process. We can’t nor do we understand the end result, but it will be beautiful. Without the etching, we cannot be finished. So it may not be a process we can skip, but He’s not pushing us away, but holding us in the palms of His Hands while He works .
Psalm 34:4
I sought Yahweh, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
Isaiah 49:13-17
13 Sing, heavens, and be joyful, earth!
Break out into singing, mountains!
For Yahweh has comforted his people,
and will have compassion on his afflicted.
14 But Zion said, “Yahweh has forsaken me,
and the Lord has forgotten me.”
15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Yes, these may forget,
yet I will not forget you!
16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Your walls are continually before me.
Hebrews 13:5
for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”* (a repeated verse from Deuteronomy 31:6)
John 10:27-29
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
Matthew 10:29-31
29 “Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin?‡ Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
Take comfort that our God cares for each of us in any situation we may face. Hold onto His Promises like Hagar learned as we read in Genesis Chapter 16:7-13:
7 Yahweh’s angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur. 8 He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?”
She said, “I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.”
9 Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.” 10 Yahweh’s angel said to her, “I will greatly multiply your offspring, that they will not be counted for multitude.” 11 Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Behold, you are with child, and will bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because Yahweh has heard your affliction. 12 He will be like a wild donkey among men. His hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. He will live opposed to all of his brothers.”
13 She called the name of Yahweh who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees,” for she said, “Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?”
God is the God who sees and cares. He will see through in both, the abundant/ pleasant seasons and the the difficult and dry seasons of life.
