Welcome back to another Faithful Friday post.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." -Benjamin Franklin
This quote was on my mind this morning. We take some medication to prevent further infection or damage. We have precautions we take such as wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle or bike. The failure to do so, if by chance that accident ever happened, could have drastic consequences: skull fractures, brain bleeds, or even death.
We take the time to wear the proper clothing for certain activities. To learn the safety rules and risks foe engaging in sports. Why would we not do so when it comes to the temptation to sin?
God's Word gives this promise: 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 World English Bible
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.
13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
How will be prepared if we never carve out the time to spend with God? Do we expect Him to give time and breath to enjoy all these activities, and cry out for time to spend time with Him? Or does He expect us to be good stewards of the time He has given? Are we going to carve time out , and prioritize time with our Lord so we can honor the Lord with life?
Extra time isn't going to "find" us. We all have the same twenty-four hours no matter where we live on the earth. What is critical to our survival will be important to us. Why do we ask or expect more time, if we waste the resources He's given us already? Do we even thank Him for what He's already done for us?
Will we take the time , to intentionally carve out the time in our schedule to be prepared spiritually for when temptation comes? God has promised a way of escape , but we must do our part . Some of God's promises require action on our part. God gives blessings, and all we have is ultimately His, but obedience is important as well. Let's not take advantage of the Lord, and be ungrateful. He is not required to give us anything more , not even our next breath. Let's us be wise with what we have been given.
