The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
2 Day after day they pour out speech,
and night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language
where their voice is not heard.
4 Their voice has gone out through all the earth,
their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room,
like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.
6 His going out is from the end of the heavens,
his circuit to its ends.
There is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 Yahweh’s law is perfect, restoring the soul.
Yahweh’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple.
8 Yahweh’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart.
Yahweh’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever.
Yahweh’s ordinances are true, and righteous altogether.
10 They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold,
sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover your servant is warned by them.
In keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Forgive me from hidden errors.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins.
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I will be upright.
I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer.
This is Psalm Chapter 19 from the World English Bible.
Day after day, creation cries out there is a God. So many times, I fear that out of fear we stay the silent ones of God’s Creation. We are afraid that our Testimony isn’t this long speech spoken or read.
What if witnessing is more about our everyday moments? What if simple words would change who gets the credit or the glory?
No one said you have to go into a long speech of , “I was born ____. I was on drugs as a teen…. then I had a fight with cancer….”
Merely an example, but maybe it could be someone’s story. There may be times where the long read or speech is prompted by the Lord. But what if we gave God glory in the everyday moments?
I mean the times when the world says, “Thank you, Mother Nature for the rain.” Does your thankfulness as a Christ Follower say, “Thank you, Heavenly Father. Thank you, God.”
Do we see His hand of protection and thank Him for it or do we give credit to dead loved ones?
Let our words be pleasing, that means what we think, how we represent the Lord matters. We can’t be pleasing to the Lord, if we proclaim falsehoods that everyone goes to Heaven or that we believe God acts and behaves in a way that contradicts what He has revealed to us in His Word.
Simply, changing our words from tradition to Truth, may become a witness to someone who needs to hear it. Even if someone were to share their testimony in full in one season, another season would bring more moments where the opportunity is presented to share current experiences of God’s faithfulness.
As long as we have breath and walk with the Lord, the story is not finished. If one were to sit and write their testimony to be published for all to read, a year or years later more volumes would have to be written to cover all that God has done.
We are the only reedemed part of Creation that gets the opportunity to speak with the Lord, and to call God Father. We are the only ones reedemed by the Blood of God’s Son, Jesus Christ who walked this earth as a man without a single sin or rebellious act against His Father.
There is so much to be thankful for. So many moments that are by the world’s standards: luck, circumstantial, ordinary occurrences…etc when the Truth is God does so much for us behind the scenes that we take it for granted. We don’t even have to think about our breathing while we sleep. It’s no accident. We are dependent upon God’s breath, and His Order that He has placed even in this fallen, sinful world.
John the Disciple puts it this way at the end of the Gospel of John:
John 21:24-25 World English Bible
24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true. 25 There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn’t have room for the books that would be written.
Even so many generations later, God has been faithful even when we have not. Each day we walk in obedience and spend time in His Word can be a moment that we can share what we learn, what we experience, and how God carried us through, by encouraging others.
Not everything has to be shared, but in that same way we aren’t meant to keep everything to ourselves. Look to the Lord for the step of obedience to take.
A journey with the Lord never ends…
