Where is God when you are struggling? It’s a thought we often have. God isn’t surprised or angered by our honesty and questions. We get proof of that reassurance when we read the Psalms. King David and others poured their hearts out to God in Honesty.
Last night I was making spaghetti for dinner. I was seasoning the meat, cooking the meat on medium heat on the stove. At no point , can that meat say, “No! Don’t do this. Don’t season me that way; I don’t like this.”
But what does it do when the cooking is hot? Grease begins to splatter and pop, sometimes hurting the one cooking it.
The hard noodles were hard , but softened at boiling point after ten minutes . The frozen bread all prepared must go into pre-prepared oven temperature for seven minutes.
No matter how badly those items may want to skip the process, it’s necessary to go through that process to be the meal you set out to cook and eat.
In the same way, God chooses what gifting and abilities He gives you. A noodle cannot become Garlic cheese toast, no matter how badly it wants to switch places. Every part of the meal had its own preparation and heat to go through to become usable .
Unlike the objects that cannot talk, we do have a choice whether we follow God’s Way or our own. In going our own way, we hurt the One who has so much better for us, the Life He prepared for us.
Where is God when we are going through the preparation, and heat of the moment?
If you are cooking something you never want to leave it unattended to scorch or burn. In the same way, He is watching over you, waiting and watching. His timing is perfect . Are you going to work with Him in the process or will you rebel and say, “ Forget this! It’s not worth it.”
Jesus died to save you from the power and control of Sin, and is faithful to keep every promise He makes to His People, trust Him. He thought it was worth it to come live among men for 30 plus years so He could redeem us back to God. Hang on a little longer. Every food cooked in heat , must be removed at some point so the meal is completed. In the same way, God will not leave you where you are. Sometimes the hardest times are meant to change us. That meat was never raw again. The noodles were never hard again. The toast could never be frozen again.
The preparation and heat may be necessary for God to use you in whatever situation or ability that He sees fit. Sometimes it’s hard to look beyond the heat of the moment, but no situation in this life is permanent. Eternity is…
Trust Him! Accept Jesus ‘ Lordship and turn from sin while there is time. Tomorrow may be too late.
Ephesians 2:1-10
You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. 3 We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
and your ways are not my ways,” says Yahweh.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
