It's Faithful Friday once again.
What is one thing the Holy Spirit helped you remember this week?
John 14:26 World English Bible
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
This week I have been reflecting on how important it is to know the Truth. I keep thinking about open book tests back in school. Maybe some of us felt like we were cheating even though we had the teacher's permission to look for the answer. Other tests we had to recall what we learned from memory.
The fact about open book tests , you had to search the material for the answers you needed. Sometimes when someone is giving facts or information to remember, they don't always study, because the person remembers what was said to them. Depending on the teacher, the information could have been false and unless the student went to the source material and researched the facts themselves they would not know the truth.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would remind the disciples of what He taught them. How can we be reminded of something that we have never sat down to study? How shall we know if someone is telling us the Truth about God and His Word vs. some false tradition?
Have you taken the time to let the Holy Spirit teach you this week? Do you know if what you truly believe is found in God's Word or is it just tradition you are following?
1 John 4:1-3 World English Bible
Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of the Antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already.
