Good Idea Vs. God’s Idea

During our country-wide Lockdown in 2020, the Lord dealt with me about resting on Saturday instead of Sunday. Yesterday, I woke up with a desire to write. I have been working on projects , and my social media had some posts I could have spent typing up yesterday. It seemed like a good idea.

But ....

I had to remind myself of what the Lord had told me , rest. You see He is the One who gives us our talents and abilities. While writing on a Saturday seemed like a good idea; to be obedient and honor to what the Lord wanted I had to say "No, I'll wait." Trusting that He would provide the time to write at the proper moment.

James chapter 4:17

To him therefore who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.

To write yesterday for me, would have been disobedience and sin. Sin doesn't always have to been limited to theft, lying, sexual sins, or those actions we consider "big sins" in our eyes.

On Saturday, my day of rest I only do that work which is necessary such as cooking , or doing a load of dishes because we are out of spoons and they are needed for dinner. A load of laundry only if something needs to be clean for the day or Sunday. Otherwise it can wait.

Not every good idea is a God idea and trust is needed. Guidance is needed. How shall we know what's good Vs. God if we do not seek His Word or pray, not only to speak to the Lord, but also to listen?

Exodus Chapter 23:10-12

10 “For six years you shall sow your land, and shall gather in its increase, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the animal of the field shall eat. In the same way, you shall deal with your vineyard and with your olive grove.

12 “Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant, and the alien may be refreshed.

In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to have a deep trust in the Lord and His Provision, if they were to obey and let the land rest for a year.

Now , we aren't under the law like the Israelites of the Old Testament were. But are we seeking the Lord, and being obedient to whatever He wants, or do we continue our good ideas or busyness like we have for months and years past? Don't weary yourself seeking to keep yourself with good ideas that keep you busy in ways the Lord never asked of you. Trust Him I the tasks He asks of you, and take the rest He provides whenever He leads.

Good ideas don't always equate with God's Ideas.
