Why I stopped writing in my Bible

brandiwilliamsauth

This may seem odd from me, since I love to write, but I have been pondering this post for a few days.

Disclaimer: If you write or draw in your Bible and that helps great. I just got a different perspective while seeing all my unused bibles on the shelf....

I have many bibles. I have a Bible that I got when I first became a Christ Follower at eight years old. I got one when I started studying Spanish, so I have a bilingual Bible from my teens. I have a Bible from when I graduated high school and a journaling Bible when the fad was popular.

So many bibles that just sit on the shelf... why?

•My Bible that I got when I was eight , the binding broke and pages began falling out. No way I could pass it on to someone.

• My Spanish / English Bible I use, but I would never feel comfortable passing it on, because I was a teen, and wrote notes that while most I can't decipher myself these days, I know the struggles I wrote about.

• My graduation Bible I broke the spine on after many moments of being angry. My poor superglue job, probably wouldn't hold up.

• My journaling Bible; why did I stop it? Because I became saddened that many drawings I saw were drawn over the important and life-changing Word of God. Why can't I pass it on ?

Would anyone, not close to me, know that I love flowers or that I picture a field of flowers when I meet in my closet with the Lord.

Would they know the four separate times the Lord reminded me to come away, or the dream of provision I had?

Would anyone who picked up my Bilingual Bible know why I highlighted so much? Do I even know or was it just a fad?

Did the reading of old notes in my Bible , keep me from learning something new? Is the old thinking of a biblical subject, written down, when I know , my thoughts have changed after I sought Truth over tradition?

So many bibles now collect dust , and I have often wanted another to start anew , but the Lord said, "No, use what you have."

A few bibles that if I were to pass away and another use them, would they get confused?

Journals you can always tear out an unwanted page or burn them, if you write something raw, that you don't want others stumble with...

You can draw scripture separately in a journal, because I have. Bibles? Three to four of them just sit on the shelf... that may never get used again.

This is why I journal separately from my Bible now, so even when seasons change or what I learn changes things, it's not permanently written the Word of God.

Just my food for thought today....
