Why Should We Journal?

I learned to journal in my high school years. For me , it began with writing down memories and details of trips overseas that I went on. Later on it became one of the most helpful tools in dealing with the darkest moments of my life. It was like therapy for me, being able to journal my emotions down and what was going on .

Many of us sometimes don’t feel comfortable sharing everything with another person so we end up bottling our emotions until we burst in anger and or we begin to think suicide is the only way out. At one time I had a business making homemade journals and this was the set of verses the Lord gave me in that season:

Deuteronomy 11:18-21 World English Bible

Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates; 21 that your days and your children’s days may be multiplied in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

God always told Prophets, the Israelites and others in the Bible to write things down to remember what He said. If God thought writing things down was important for us, then maybe there is a reason to write down what He tells us or other information we want to remember.
